The
Scroll of the Lamb represents the history of the world
following the ascension and glorification of Christ
Jesus. It is written on both sides because its history
is full. (5:1) Moreover, the Scroll represents the
history of EVERY creature in heaven and on earth and
under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in
them, from the first century onwards. (5:11-14, 6:1)
Thus, EVERY faith, race, culture, creed, and language
is attested to.
The
seven seals of the scroll represent seven distinct
stages in the progression of spiritual consciousness
beginning with the Outer Court of the Holy Temple, to
the Altar of Burnt Offering, to the Holy Place, to the
Holy of Holies (Mount Zion). Notice that the seven
seals of the scroll begin with a NEW SONG. (5:9)
Without
question, this NEW SONG is in direct reference to the
dispensation of the Holy Spirit upon the earth at
Pentecost. (1:19, 5:10) It is evident that John was
looking into the past when he received this great
vision (ca. 98) by a careful study of the following
verse: "Write, therefore, what you have seen,
what is now, and what will take place later."
(1:19)
For
practical reasons only a brief summary of the seven
seals is presented within these pages. Please read the
scripture references carefully.
