We must never forget the Reason for the Season...

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made: without him nothing was made that has been made. (NIV)

Okay, so lets take a look at this… in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Then we find out that the Word was made flesh and that it dwelt among us full of grace and truth. Now we understand the origin of Jesus Christ… in simple terms He was the Word and the Word was God… So Jesus Christ is the only begotten of God (John 1:14). Imagine if you will… Here is a young girl approximately 16-17 years of age and engaged to a young man known as Joseph. She has already made plans with her soon to be husband and knew how her life was going to be. She was nobody important… just another of many who lived during this time.

She had already made up her mind what kind of life she was going to have, how many children they would have together, where they would live, and then… Suddenly (Luke 1:31-33) an angel of God appeared and told her that she was going to be with child even though she had never knew a man. But how could this be? (Luke 1:34) For you see Mary had never knew a man, so how could this possibly be? Here a messenger of God is telling Mary that she is about to be with child without ever knowing a man, now if we examine this using our thinking process, we find that this is simply impossible. Just take a minute as we look at the response of the angel to Mary… (Luke 1:35).

We know because of the Word of God and understand that with God all things are possible (Mark 10:27) and are complete in Him. Now Joseph was to say: a little upset, as any man would be, he was upset because Mary had become pregnant and it wasn’t by him. Now Joseph being an honorable man didn’t want to cause Mary any public embarrassment… so he was going to send her away. As he lay sleeping one night an angel (messenger) of God visited him and told him to wed Mary. (Matthew 1:20) So who exactly is this Jesus? (Matthew 1:21)? What’s the bid deal? (Matthew 1:23) Okay, so we find out God was with us… God walked among us in the flesh, lived among us, and then died for us.

The future has been predestined by God (Luke 1:33) talking about Heaven and the fact that it will never come to an end… it will always be! We have been granted entrance into this never-ending kingdom because of Jesus Christ. So to look back over 2000 years ago, we find the birth of the Son of God, who was sent to earth because God loved us so much and wanted a relationship with us. (John 3:16) All we have to do (now comes the really hard part) is believe in Jesus and we will never know death, but have everlasting life with Him in heaven. Now are you ready for this? Here comes the really good news… The cost… FREE…

So after careful review we find that there is indeed a reason for the season… Jesus Christ… the Son of the Living God! Praise God for His Son… His birth… His death… and for His resurrection… The blood of Jesus Christ paid the debt for our sins!!

If Jesus came home with you…

Let’s just take a minute here… Relax… Close your eyes… Go ahead nobody is looking… now empty your mind of all the worldly conflicts that have taken possession of your thoughts… Picture in your mind if you will a blue sky with cotton candy clouds so fluffy and white… the bright sun shines down upon your face bringing warmth to your skin…  Suddenly you feel a tap on your shoulder, turning to see who or what it is, you see Jesus Christ standing there beside you with his hand upon your shoulder as He speaks… Come one, let’s go to your home… I need a place to stay. What would you say to the Son of God? Really think about what just happened. Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God said He was coming to your home to stay. He needed a place to stay.

What is going through your mind right now? The Son of the Living God is coming to your home to stay. What is going through your mind right now? Jesus is going home with you to your home. What are you thinking? What will you feed the Son of the Living God? Are you wandering if your house is clean enough? Are you wandering what He will think about how you live? Are you wandering about how your spouse will react? What about your children? When you walk in with Him, how will your home reflect the person you are? If the television is on, what will He see on it? If music is playing, what will He think of it?

How will your spouse react and treat you in the presence of the Son of God? What will you tell all the people who want to be around Jesus Christ? What would your reaction be? Do your children know more about Pokeman and Harry Potter (or the latest craze) than the Son of God? Will your spouse look you in the eyes and say: Jesus who? We as Messengers are not only responsible for the Flock… but for our families as well, their education, their development in Jesus Christ, but most importantly we are to set a Christ like example to live by.

Just stop and think. When you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, Jesus carried your sins upon His shoulders and God the Father forgave you of those sins, and gave you a free gift of eternal life and the presence of the Holy Spirit. That gift from God to each of us, known as the Holy Spirit, part of that precious trinity, and lives within each and every one of us as Christians. If Jesus did come home with any one of us, what will we show Him that we have done with this special gift that God has seen fit to give to us?

Good thing that Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God loves us!!!
