God
Answers Prayers!!!
God
answers Prayers everyday. One day… one moment in
time God answered so many of our prayers that we have
prayed over a few years. Wait upon the Lord.
For
some reason that I may not understand for years to
come, God either made or let us move in a rented
trailer just North of Bowling Green Kentucky after my
other half lost his job soon after 9-11. He lost his
job and we lost about everything else. We all had to
start over from scratch.
The
day we were shown the trailer we moved into, we
realized it was about the best they had, but only a
two bedroom and we have two children… Boy and Girl.
We had seen another trailer that we liked and had
planned to move into it but we were told that we could
not have it. That was a blessing as we soon realized
that the lot flooded every time we had any measurable
rain. God was truly watching out for us.
We
were blessed to find a couch and love seat, table and
chairs, a couple dressers and two fold out chairs that
served as beds for the kids at the Good will store for
under a hundred dollars. Yard sales became our best
source of getting items we needed to get our home set
up. A friend of ours sold us a washer and dryer very
reasonably…what a blessing not to have to go to the
laundry mat!
We
built a make shift wall to separate the front bedroom
for the children and that worked to some extent, but
the room was just not large enough to make two rooms
that were completely functional. The size of the front
bedroom was too small for even two twin beds to fit in
it with the dressers, so my daughter spent her time on
different make shift beds. I prayed to God for a bed
for her and room to put it in.
The
park was sold soon after we moved in and new
management came in. It became very clear that they had
no intention or perhaps they lacked the know how to
maintain the trailers. We kept letting them know about
the problems that cropped up and they did their very
best not to get anything fixed. As a result, the
ceilings began to leak, the walls and floors began
getting wet during rainy times and of course Mold set
in. Electrical problems cropped up and in general it
cause me to worry about a fire perhaps breaking out.
My
daughter and I have asthma. The mold did not help. I
prayed to God for relief. The bed that came in the
master bedroom was not good quality. The longer I
slept on it, the more I prayed to God for a waterbed.
My deteriorating lower disc seemed to deteriorate more
every morning when I got up in pain and hobbled to my
desk chair to sit until relief could be had. Dear God,
please help.
Our
washer was fun… it did clean clothes fairly well
however one of us had to sit on it so it would not
walk across the room. Finally the bathroom floor that
was in need of replacing sunk enough so that the
washer stopped walking. What a Blessing Thank you God.
The dryer did a good job as long as the eraser stayed
jammed in the door. That washer and dryer were not
perfect, but they did serve us for the time we spent
and we were thankful that we did not have to find a
laundry mat. We will think back on that washer and
dryer with fond memories I am sure. Dear God, we need
something quieter and more steady please.
A
friend of ours gave us an under the counter dishwasher
they had replaced with a newer model. We got it
installed and as we had thrown out the old non-working
dishwasher, we felt it only fair to leave the working
one when we left. You must know that I sent up a
little prayer that if God would bless us with a new
place to live that it might come with a dishwasher.
They are great to help keep germs at bay during the
cold and flu season. Not to mention a great time saver
for anyone blessed with dishes to do.
After
a couple of years it became quite clear that our
living room furniture was falling apart. We eventually
had to get rid of the love seat and we were given an
over sized chair by a moving neighbor to takes its
place. It was not in great shape yet it was
functional.
I
found that the last few months we lived in that
trailer I had begun to worry about the hot water
heater. It did not help that our neighbor had to have
his replaced. So I would send up a prayer that the Hot
water heater would hold fast just a little longer. Had
it gone, it would have flooded our closet that was a
storage area for things like Photographs and other
memories that we wanted to keep.
I
kept praying for a better place to live. But I had the
children to think of. We had been in the trailer for
three years. They had engrained themselves into the
school system, developed friendships and as they both
had found ways to achieve the honor roll, to uproot
them, especially my son currently in high school, just
seemed wrong. Dear God, please find us a place that
will keep the children in the schools they are in
within walking distance. We only have the one car and
it leaves for work before the children return home
from school.
It
was becoming clear to me that I had a need for some
cloths. It hit me when I realized I only had one pair
of pants that fit when I had to go out in public. I
offered up a prayer for a pair of pants so I could
have at least two pairs that would work going out in
public. As most of my day is spent working on line, I
didn’t go out much except to the post office,
grocery shopping, some odd yard sales and now and then
I have been blessed with a meal at one of the few
restaurants in town that I feel comfortable eating at
with my food allergies. I also know my daughter had a
need for some new socks and a few other items young
ladies need.
Now,
I want you to know that despite all the problems, we
have been happy as a family in the trailer we spent
three years in. We have grown spiritually and as a
family. For all the bad, we had in our life; we had a
lot of good and had a lot of fun. It was not a bleak
time, by any means… Just I personally felt we could
grow as a family and continue to grow spiritually, in
a healthier home.
One
day ... March 22, 2005 at about 10am, we were
returning from a post office run and as we got almost
home, a sign caught my eye. “For Sale or For Rent”
To be honest, I had never even noticed that trailer
was there, but that sign caught my eye and I just knew
I had to know more. I wanted to walk back and get the
number, but was informed the number could be copied
down and called to me later that day, so despite the
fact for the first time in my life, I was so drawn to
a home to look at that I could hardly keep still, I
waited and waited.
The
phone rang… I had the number… I called! The trailer
turned out to be a two bedroom and I was a little bit
disappointed. We really need three bedrooms. I told the
owner that I wanted to see it. He told me that another
man had called a few minutes before and he had first
option. I told him that I would like to see it when he
was done looking at it, just in case.
The
next morning came and about 15 minutes after the first
man was to call for his appointment, I called the owner
and asked what time we could see it. He agreed to meet
us in less than an hour and we were there waiting. It
was cold outside, but for some reason the cold did not
seem to bother me as much as it normally does. We got
inside and realized that this trailer was in great
shape! Yes, it was a two bedroom, a Two bedroom with Two
doors into the room… Hum… we can work with
that…Thank you God! Ok… now comes the fun stuff.
Not
only was the lay out suitable to convert this trailer to
a three bedroom unit, it also came with a Dishwasher
that was a year old. A hot water heater that was not
only just a year old, but also house size… 40 gallon
and gas! Hot showers all around! A washer and dryer that
we would not have to sit on, they were quiet, the dryer
was nice and hot and they were large capacity! Not new,
but a lot better than what we had. Thank you God!
The
front bedroom included a nice twin bed. Just right for
my daughter! Thank you God! The master bedroom came
complete with a queen-sized Waterbed! Oh Thank You God!
My Back thanks you. Praise God! God also included a very
sturdy couch and chair! Thank you God!
Needless
to say, when the man who wanted to look at the trailer
called, an hour and a half late… the owner asked us if
he should say it is under contract… Yes! Yes! Yes! We
knew with all the prayers answered that this was what
God had in mind for us. A much nicer home at a price we
could afford. It is actually the same price we were
paying for rent. God does answer Prayers!
The
blessings did not stop there. The trailer had been
marked down over Four thousand dollars from the original
asking price. This trailer is well within walking
distance to the schools and the dogs that live next door
only bark as strangers, so we have that added security.
I
told the owners that anything they left behind I would
be happy to take care of for them. They had recently
combined three homes into one. There were a number of
boxes in the front bedroom they just did not want
anymore. So they took what they wanted and left the
rest. In these boxes … Wow. You are going to love
this…
In
one of the first boxes of clothing I looked through, I
found what looks like a new Sweatshirt. On it: G.A.P.
(God Answers Prayers). We put that sweatshirt up on our
wall. To us, confirmation God is answering our prayers.
It is also an excuse for us to share with anyone that
comes in, this story. God Answers Prayers!
Want
more? My Dad was due to come visit … Due in April 1st.
A friend had just finished getting a truck tagged and on
the road and he decided we needed to use it to move. We
just had to fill up the gas tank when we were done. So
we got moved in to the new home, the old one cleaned and
keys turned in by the end of the month and this place
set up with a new wall dividing one large bedroom into
two rooms, and including building a closet.
I
had one problem left. My kitchen. What to do with
everything? The kitchen was smaller and less cabinet
space. So off to Wal-Mart we went after returning the
truck we borrowed. We spent some time searching for
something we could use to add storage space to the
kitchen. Then we rounded the display area where all the
furniture is set up coming from a different direction
and I saw a hutch. I said… I want that! I had a
feeling it was just what I needed. It felt a lot like
what I felt when I saw this trailer. Like it was meant
to be.
We
looked on the shelves for a box containing this
wonderful trailer sized hutch and found nothing. So I
found a clerk and pointed to the hutch and explained: I
want it! As God would have it… The hutch was in stock,
out back and on sale for 25% off! Thank you God! Now the
boxes are out of my kitchen and it is fully functional!
There
is more. In the boxes that were felt behind for us, I
found a box of new clothes, tags on in my size. Anther
box with new socks and other items my daughter needed
… new. Tags on and in her size. There were clothes not
only for our family, but for my oldest daughter’s
family as well! Thank you God!
I
keep feeling like I have forgotten some more prayers
that were answered. It seems to me that every day brings
more blessings and I find myself thanking God and
wanting to proclaim his work in our lives to all who
will listen. Our God is an awesome God!
I
sit here in my home office, praising God for our new
home with the additional room, the healthier living
conditions, the fact I can see the schools from my
window and so many more things. I praise God for my Mom
and Dad who are still healthy enough to come visit and
spend quality time with us. I praise God for letting us
know in a big way that he does answer our prayers and he
will sometimes spell it out for us on the front of a
sweatshirt… G.A.P. (God Answers Prayers)!
I
heard an elderly minister on the radio one day. He was
asked if he could go back and live his live over again
and he could change something what would it be? He said
prayer. He wished he had prayed more. The power of Pray!
So pray for blessings in the lives of others. Pray
God’s will be done in all our lives. Don’t forgot to
let God know about things you Need in your own life.
Pray
for your family and their Needs. Don’t forget to
believe in your heart that God will answer these
prayers. Praise God daily for all the blessings in your
life. Thank you God for giving us this day! Each day is
a present… Live it to it’s fullest!
Thank
you for sharing this special time in our lives with me!
May God Bless!
