Why is Awakening Ministries in West Africa? In 1998 Nigeria’s estimated population was 110,532,242, yielding an average density of 120 persons per sq km or 310 per sq mile. At the last census, in 1991, the population totaled 88.5 million. With a birth rate of 42.2 per 1,000 and a death rate of 12.9 per 1,000, Nigeria’s population is growing at an average of 3 percent annually. By 2025 the population is projected to grow to 203 million.

Islam, Christianity, and indigenous religions are central to how Nigerians identify themselves. According to the 1963 census, 47% of Nigerians were Muslims and 35 % were Christians. Current estimates vary and are quite unreliable: further complicating matters, many Muslims and Christians adhere to beliefs and practices associated with indigenous religions. Nigeria also has many independent African Churches, such as Cherubim and Seraphim, which incorporate African cultural practices such as drumming, dancing, and polygamy (marriage with more that one wife) into Christianity.

While specific beliefs vary, Nigerian indigenous religions are usually pantheistic, incorporating a supreme God, deities associated with particular elements of the environment, and spiritual entities associated with local physical landmarks, such as rock formations or rivers. Rituals and ceremonies in honor of deities are undertaken with great care, as they are seen to represent the key to security and prosperity. An example of such ceremonies would be ritual sacrifices, conducted at specific places and times to ensure a bountiful harvest. The Yoruba indigenous religion is of special interest because traditional rituals continue to be an important part of that society’s cultural practices.

Anointed Messengers of God in West Africa have joined with Awakening Ministries to establish Awakening Ministries West Africa. With these anointed Messengers of God and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and direction of God the Father, Awakening Ministries is fulfilling the "Great Commission". We are working together sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, delivering the message of Love and Salvation all across West Africa. Jesus Christ commanded us (His Body of Believers) to fulfill the "Great Commission”...

Anointed Messengers of God have asked Awakening Ministries to come to Africa and to participate in "Holy Ghost & Fire Crusades”... where God will manifest His awesome power and shake the very foundations of West Africa. These anointed Messengers have committed themselves and their Church Congregations to be part of these powerful Crusades.

Imagine if you will hundreds of new Christians filled with the love that only comes from having a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ… A sea of new Christians engulfed in that unconditional love! A love that we have been commanded to share with one another!
